For authors and institutions

We find the right publisher for the manuscript you have.

Books and articles go to different publishers depending on the subject. We do not publish everything ourselves — we assess the work, shortlist venues that pass vetting, and take you through the submission.

How it runs

Four steps, from your file to a submission

Each step ends in something written: an assessment, a shortlist, a submission record. You are never guessing where the manuscript stands.

1

Intake

You send the manuscript, or a synopsis if it is not finished, together with what you want out of publishing it.

2

Topic and scope assessment

We read it and place it: discipline, sub-field, length, audience, whether it is an article, a chapter or a book. That decides the type of venue, before any name is on the table.

3

Candidate selection

A shortlist of publishers or journals that fit the work and pass the vetting below, with the reasoning for each and what submission to it involves.

4

Support through the process

Formatting to the venue’s requirements, the cover letter, the submission itself, and help reading and answering the reviewers.

Selection criteria

We never route to a publisher that fails the check

Every candidate is verified before it reaches your shortlist. A venue that does not pass is not offered, however well it would fit the topic.

Indexing status

Current status in DOAJ, Scopus and Web of Science — checked at the time of recommendation, not from memory.

COPE membership

Membership in the Committee on Publication Ethics, and a publication ethics policy that actually exists.

APC transparency

Article processing charges published up front, with waiver policy, and editorial policies that are readable before submission.

Think. Check. Submit.

The criteria of the Think. Check. Submit. initiative, applied candidate by candidate.

Disclosure of interest

We disclose every financial or ownership relationship with a publisher we recommend. If we are ourselves the publisher of one of the titles on your shortlist, that is stated clearly next to it — in the shortlist itself, not in a footnote.

You are entitled to know which recommendation pays us and which does not, before you choose.

What we do not do

  • We do not guarantee acceptance.
  • We do not write the paper for the author.
  • We do not influence peer review.

The decision belongs to the editors and the reviewers of the venue. Our work is to give the manuscript the best possible shot at a fair reading.
